Mahashakti Movement: Spreading Dignity Through Sanitary Pad Awareness & Distribution An initiative by Ekakivedam Foundation under the guidance of Dr. Komal (Shivpriya Ji)

Theme: Seva Se Samman Tak — Empowering Women with Awareness, Hygiene & Dignity

Introduction: When Awareness Becomes Empowerment

Periods are not a taboo — they are nature’s sign of strength. Yet, in many parts of India, menstruation is still wrapped in silence, shame, and lack of awareness.

Through the Mahashakti Movement, Ekakivedam Foundation took a compassionate step forward — organizing Sanitary Pad Awareness and Distribution Drives to educate and empower women about menstrual hygiene and self-care.

Under the divine guidance of Dr. Komal (Shivpriya Ji), the initiative turned into a powerful blend of seva (service) and samman (dignity) — bringing health, awareness, and self-respect to women from all walks of life.

Objective of the Drive

The aim of this campaign was not just to distribute pads, but to distribute awareness — to make every woman understand:

“Periods are not impure — they are the rhythm of creation itself.”

Through this Abhiyan, Ekakivedam Foundation focused on:

  • Educating women and girls about menstrual hygiene and safe practices.

  • Breaking myths and taboos related to menstruation in rural and urban communities.

  • Encouraging the use of sanitary pads for hygiene and infection prevention.

  • Distributing free eco-friendly sanitary pads to underprivileged women and schoolgirls.

  • Creating safe spaces for open dialogue on menstruation and women’s health.

The Event: Seva with Sensitivity

The awareness sessions were held under the Mahashakti Aarogya Abhiyan and Mahashakti Manas Abhiyan wings of the Mahashakti Movement.

Volunteers of Ekakivedam Foundation visited villages, schools, and slum areas, where they conducted interactive sessions on:

  • What menstruation really means — a natural biological process, not a curse.

  • How to use, dispose of, and store sanitary pads properly.

  • Why maintaining hygiene during periods prevents infections.

  • The emotional and physical changes women experience — and how to handle them with care.

Each session ended with the distribution of sanitary pads and a heartfelt message:

“Samman tabhi badhega jab mahila swayam apni shakti ko samjhegi.”

(Respect grows when a woman understands her own power.)

Impact of the Initiative

Over 500+ women and adolescent girls benefitted directly through the pad distribution and awareness sessions.

Local teachers, ASHA workers, and volunteers were trained to continue awareness in their communities.

Many women shared their stories — of how this initiative changed their perception of periods and hygiene.

The campaign sparked a wave of confidence and comfort — women began to talk openly, ask questions, and encourage their daughters to practice hygiene fearlessly.

Pad ka Matlab Samjhana — Beyond Distribution

The volunteers beautifully explained the meaning of the word ‘Pad’ as a symbol of:

P – Protection

A – Awareness

D – Dignity

Every sanitary pad distributed carried not just material comfort, but a message —

that cleanliness, health, and dignity are every woman’s birthright.

Message from Dr. Komal (Shivpriya Ji)

“Menstrual health is not just a physical matter — it is emotional and spiritual.

When a woman respects her own body, she aligns with the divine rhythm of Shakti.

Through awareness, we are not just distributing pads, we are restoring respect.”

Future Vision

Ekakivedam Foundation aims to continue this drive in schools, rural villages, and women’s groups — with a mission to:

  • Promote sustainable menstrual products like biodegradable pads and menstrual cups.

  • Introduce menstrual education in rural curriculum.

  • Encourage men and boys to understand and support women during menstruation.

Conclusion

The Mahashakti Movement continues to be a symbol of compassion in action — where awareness is not limited to words, but reflected in every act of seva.

By breaking silence, spreading education, and embracing dignity, Ekakivedam Foundation reminds us that empowerment begins with understanding — and every woman deserves health, respect, and care.

“From Seva to Samman, from Awareness to Awakening —

the Mahashakti Movement lights the path to dignity for every woman.”
